It’s truly unimaginable to comprehend the scope of renovating a turn-of-the-century resort. Maintaining the integrity of this historic resort requires great skill and attention to the smallest of details.

The restoration process will bring new life to many of the structures at Feather River Inn. Beginning with the focal point, the lodge, and then continues with the Veranda, Boardwalk, Library, Historic Dining Room, Rainbow Theater (Rainbow Events Center) and Golf Course.

The Redwood

Known to the Native Americans as a "Spirit Being," redwood makes up much of the wood in the former chalets. Click here to read more about The Redwood.

Factoids

	The First Interstate Company of Chicago was the original owner of Feather River Inn.

	At One Time, the resort had about 125 guest rooms.

	In 1921 a fire believed to be arson struck the main lodge.

	Originally, Feather River Inn was built on 1,000 acres of property.

	Feather River Inn had a five-lane Olympic size swimming pool.

	In 1977, Feather River Inn was operated by the University of the Pacific.

	Feather River Inn once featured an orchestra and play house for viewing first-run motion pictures.

	On the property lived a resident doctor, nurse, barber and babysitter for guest needs.

	In the old days, guests danced in the Gold Nugget Saloon and watched impromptu productions in the Rainbow Theater.

	The Feather River Inn is located in the Plumas National Forest.

	Before creating the first design of the Feather River Inn lodge and chalets, French architect, Frederic C. Whitton worked for John D. Rockefeller.

	The Feather River In Golf Course was designed in 1919 and built in 1920. It opened in 1921 as nine holes, 3,050 yards and fine grass greens.

	In the early 1950's, an airstrip was graded along side the #5 tee of the golf course.

	The First Open Golf tournament at Feather River Inn was on August 20, 1921.

	The Feather River Inn Golf Course is considered one of the earliest mountain golf courses. It follows Wawona, Yoesemite National Park in 1918 and Tahoe Tavern, Lake Tahoe in 1918.
